Sea Floats
"I began to think of these small orbs as tiny round paintings."
"I have always felt that making sea floats was simply fun and whimsical. Recently, I figured-out a way of working that would allow me to place colors—I'd previously thought impossible to put together--together. It was like magic, and suddenly I had bright vermilion red right next to turquoise blue and cream."
In time, we will feature a number of sea floats made over the past three to five years that are held in private collections. Since Kelly changed the her approach to making the floats--the way she combines and uses color--she has created more than fifteen hundred in the same period of time. We will draw images from this group of 1500, and not the estimated 15,000 floats she has previously made with the public at the Lincoln City Glass Center--where Kelly is a well-respected teacher and one of the co-owners.
